"GROMKIE" is more than just a play; it is a poignant reflection on how difficult it is to preserve love--and how easily it can be lost--over the course of a lifetime. The production tells the story of a couple who have spent 25 years together, weathering numerous hardships and seemingly losing the passion they once shared. In Bassem Youssef's one of a kind solo comedy performance, the audience is taken on a personal journey from Bassem's career as a heart surgeon in Egypt to finding himself in the middle of the Arab Spring and becoming the host of the largest political satire show in the history of the Arab World.
